Why Used Tires Make Sense in Cleveland
Between potholes on Euclid Avenue, construction on I-480, and random road debris on MLK Boulevard, Cleveland eats tires. Replacing a slashed sidewall with a brand-new $180 tire when the other three have 50% tread left does not make financial sense. A quality used tire with matching tread depth costs $40 to $70 installed and gets you through until the whole set needs replacing. That is not cheap — that is smart.
The Problem with Most Used Tire Shops
Not every used tire shop inspects what they sell. Some places stack tires in a lot, spray them with shine, and mount whatever fits. They do not check the DOT date code, they do not measure tread depth across the full width, and they do not look for internal damage. You end up with a 9-year-old tire with dry rot hidden under Armor All. That is not a deal — that is a liability.

How Nick's Does Used Tires Differently
Every used tire at Nick's Tire & Auto goes through a multi-point inspection before it goes on the rack. We check tread depth at three points across the width. We verify the DOT date — nothing older than 6 years gets sold. We inspect sidewalls inside and out for repairs, bulges, cracks, and cord exposure. We check for belt separation by running our hand across the tread to feel for bumps. If a tire fails any check, it goes in the recycling pile. We would rather lose the $40 sale than put something unsafe on your car.
What Sizes We Carry
Our used tire inventory changes daily as we get trade-ins, dealer take-offs, and fleet pull-offs. We stock the most common Cleveland sizes: 205/55R16 and 215/60R16 for sedans, 225/65R17 and 235/65R18 for SUVs, and 265/70R17 and 275/60R20 for trucks. If we do not have your size today, we can usually source it within a day or two. Call (216) 862-0005 to check availability before you drive over.
Used Tire Prices at Nick's
Used tires at Nick's Tire & Auto run $30 to $80 each depending on size, brand, and remaining tread. That includes professional mounting, computer balancing, new valve stem, and TPMS sensor reset. Compare that to new tire prices of $80 to $250 each plus installation, and the savings are obvious. Payment programs are also available — $10 down through Acima, Koalafi, and Snap Finance if you need a full set and money is tight.
